Kim, a man in his late seventies, lives alone in an apartment on the outskirts of Seoul. His life changes dramatically, when he’s offered a chance to see his North Korean brother after more than sixty years.
About the director
Seung-Hyun Chong was born in Germany as a child from Korean parents, he went to grammar school in his native Aachen to then leave for Seoul, South Korea in 1999, to study acting at the Dongguk University. Returning to Germany in 2002, he studied sports and divinity at The German University of Sports in Cologne and The University of Bonn. Seung-Hyun is a secondary school teacher. He now works at the German School in Seoul.
“Get up”, one of his last short movies, somehow an autobiographical quotation, excelled at a great number of festivals all over the world. “Family “ is a short movie about a family reunion of two brothers from North and from South Korea, has reached an early acclaim at the Busan film festival and is now being shown at a variety of international film festivals. Currently, he is post-producing the short “Euna”. It shows a day in the life of a North Korean refugee, trying to deal with prejudice and financial constraints
